West Coast Salmon Run

Salmon Run
West Coast Salmon Run

This time of year, every creek in Washington and Oregon is full of Salmon coming to spawn, but in times past not so much.

And

That’s why it was stunning news Tuesday in Newport, Ore., when the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife presented its annual forecast for the Klamath’s fall chinook run. Nearly 1.6 million fish are expected to be in this year’s run, a figure that’s nearly triple anything on the charts that go back to 1996.

The monster run, if it plays out as predicted, could provide a welcome bonanza for the troubled commercial fishing industry in California and Oregon and for the dozens of communities along the river that host sport fishermen when there’s anything in the river to catch. Conservationists say it also vindicates years of efforts to maintain healthy water flows and better habitat for fish that have battled both drought and hydropower dams for decades.

A strong fall chinook run is also forecast for the Sacramento River, which could see four times the number of fish compared with 2011, or a total of 819,400 fish.

“Both of those numbers look pretty good,” Steve Williams, deputy administrator of Oregon Fish and Wildlife’s fish division, told the Los Angeles Times after presenting the figures in Newport. “They obviously are evidence of good ocean survival conditions that have allowed those fish to thrive and become available this year, potentially some of them, for harvest.”

Environmental groups have been working for years to improve fish habitat on the Klamath by fighting efforts to draw out water in the Upper Klamath Basin for irrigation. They are on the verge of getting federal approval to remove four hydropower dams that have been a major impediment to fish health.

In 2002, diversion of water to agriculture cascaded into other problems that led to the die-off downstream of at least 34,000 fall chinook —  probably twice that number — one of the biggest fish kills in Northwest history.

“There’s been too much water promised to too many people, and there’s been lots of fights,” said Kristen Boyles, an attorney for Earthjustice in Seattle, who has joined the legal effort to keep more water in the river.

But tribes along the river have worked steadily to protect fish habitat, other stakeholders have negotiated water usage issues and possible removal of  dams, and last spring there was abundant rainfall, guaranteeing sufficient water for migrating juvenile fish even without court fights.

State fish managers and fishing industry advocates say good ocean conditions too — abundant food and fewer predators — would have to have played a role in so robust a predicted run.

As reported by the Los Angles Times

Hubbble Finds Farthest and Oldest Galaxy

The Hubble Space Telescope has imaged the farthest galaxy yet seen. It is 13.2 billion light years away. That means it is 13.2 billion years old. It was being formed less than 500 million years after the Big Bang.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) recently imaged a small galaxy 13.2 billion light years (ly) away. That means it was being formed less than 500,000,000 years after the Big Bang.

That is prior to we certainly have thought galaxies set about forming. This finding can well change all our view related with the early Universe.

Not only did HST find this far away galaxy in formation, the European Space Organization (ESO), using its 8.2 meter Very Large Telescope (VLT) and a Gravitational Lens created by a cluster of nearby galaxies, imaged what astronomers believe were a cluster of forming galaxies at the distance of HST's find.

A Small, Young Beginning

The galaxy Hubble discovered is actually a proto-galaxy—one just beginning to develop. It is small, scarcely more than 10 million times the mass of our Sun. It appears to be composed of young, hot stars—stars at the beginning of their life.

Because the galaxy is so far away, its red shift is severe, which is why it appears red in the image. Its distance also makes it impossible to resolve individual stars. But through spectrographic and radiation analysis, astronomers are confident of their findings.

The digitally enhanced closeup shown below gives you some idea of the amorphous shape of the early galaxy. It clearly has not completed its formative process. Whether it ever did or not, we will probably never know.

Astronomers believe this galaxy began its life 100 million to 200 million years before the image HST captured. That would put its birth perhaps as far back as 300 million years after the Big Bang. That is somewhat earlier than we generally have thought galaxies began to form.

Out of the Darkness

Current theory says that as the Universe expanded rapidly from the Big Bang—the Inflationary Period—it became opaque as the initial flash of the Big Bang was stretched into longer wavelengths by the rapid expansion. No galaxies or stars had been formed yet, so the Universe was dark. Once they did form, light flooded the universe and the opaque fog disappeared.

But when did this happen? Is Hubble looking at one of the first galaxies to form, or did others form before? If the Webb Space Telescope finds even earlier galaxies, we will be forced to rethink our concept of the early Universe, and the beginnings of galactic formation.

If we should find that galaxies began to form as early as 100 million years after the Universe's birth, not only will our thinking of galaxy development change, but our thinking of the development of the Universe will be forever altered.

We have discovered recently that galaxies were likely created by supermassive black holes at their center. We've known there were quantum black holes filling the cosmos in the early days of the Universe. Will Hubble's findings bring these theories together?

Venus, Mercury, Jupiter and Mars Meet Over a Feast

Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Mercury are meeting for a feast together in the sky. This will happen on May 13th 2011 over the Southern Hemisphere. The event of seeing them together will go on for a week or so by which they will start saying good-bye to each other thereby moving in different angular directions. This rare event is happening when these four planets align together in a row. This will happen again, but no sooner than 2040 September.

This is going to be a real treat for all those people engaged or interested in Astronomy. As per Fred Watson, chief of Anglo Australian Observatory situated in New South Wales, Australia; the event will be visible with naked eyes early in the morning during sunrise hours. The treat will go on for next 4-5 days. As per astrologists, the four planets coming together will affect people on earth in terms of their emotional and behavioral patterns.

If in case upon an average this rarity of alignment of 4 or even 5 planets takes place as soon as single in 29-30 working years, its really a not to be missed treat. I in the morning sure a lot of the TV programmes would probably be busy in telecasting this meeting in actual time (and later) to be able to supply this treat to those people who will not be able to see it within the heavens residing away from South Hemisphere. Apparently it seems as though four planets are actually fulfilling to review with him or her exactly what is in progress upon planet Earth

So keep a gaze over sky to this wonderful event of watching Mars, Jupiter, Venus and Mercury together on May 13th.

Anxiety Disorder - How it Ruined My Life and How I Cope With it Now

I experienced seriously from anxiousness and also major depression for further versus 30 years. It got even worse during the course of high school, and also even even worse later on, because if it had been deliberately attempting to render my favorite life because miserable because possible. This really is my favorite tale of Good psychological soreness, agelong a great deal of isolation, misery and also utter despair as well as how I progressively found my favorite method away of this dark unterfuehrung of despair and also into the digestible of wisdom, pleasure and also great relief.

Along with all the problems one usually gets when growing up, the symptoms of panic disorder and not at first knowing what they were, devastated my days at school and ruined my concentration with schoolwork. I would come home completely exhausted, frustrated and unable to concentrate on anything, especially homework. I had a very limited social life and no girlfriends. I suffered for what seemed like an eternity from social anxiety, loneliness, severe acne, mysterious weight loss, and crippling depression. I had an extreme dislike of most kinds of team sports and had a really hard time trying to fit in anywhere. From grade school to high school, I suffered much hazing from others and much rejection and "unrequited love" from members of the opposite sex I felt attracted to, resulting in a vicious cycle of continued social anxiety, resentment of other's popularity and success, and my overwhelming sense of rejection, isolation and alienation.

The suffering continued through college (where I studied nutrition, psychology, astronomy and especially art) and into my work years. I could only find jobs that were simple and stress free such as gardening, painting and handyman type projects. I finally had a job taking care of an office building with a garden and fountain that required much continuous maintenance and support. I am still working there today.

Throughout the '70s, '80s and '90s, I tried in vain to find the cause of my suffering through religions, doctors, psychiatrists, etc. only to be severely disappointed by their "its all in your head" diagnosis! It seemed FAR worse than just "anxiety neurosis" or the later diagnosis of "anxiety disorder"! I couldn't believe it. I thought I either had to have heart disease, kidney failure, cancer, strokes, tumors, diabetes, lead poisoning, mercury, DDT, or any combination of the above! You name it, It felt like I had it! But, over and over all my tests revealed nothing substantial or really significant, no toxins, no poisons, nothing that made sense or was helpful.

I tried counseling, Christianity, Christian and Religious science, eastern religions, meditation, yoga, and positive thinking for many years, but still my problems only got worse. I started feeling more and more like a nutcase and a good candidate for insanity as more and more of my family and friends gave me the "its all in your head so snap out of it" insult-to-injury "treatment." Nearly all of my acquaintances had no understanding or sympathy for my chronic problems so they left me alone. I spent most of my time very much alone and isolated. Being with people scared me so much I often had to run to an isolated, quiet room or area where no people were around. I could not fill out any forms or sign my name on my check or credit card receipt in public because I would shake too much. Some of my signatures looked absolutely bizarre and any forms filled out illegible. I went through hell just trying to fill out a simple job application.

Conversations would end abruptly because I kept losing track of

Star Talk - Lunar Legends and Astronomy of the Moon

Full Moon
Full Moon

Full moon through telescope

Our Moon is huge in proportion to the size of the Earth. No other moon in the Solar System is proportionately as large as its parent planet. (That wasn't always the case until Pluto was downgraded!) It's about a quarter the size of the Earth and about a quarter million miles away. The surface area is roughly 10 billion acres, or about the size of North and South America combined.

The Moon appears white to us, but only because the sky around it is so dark. Actually, the Moon has the color and reflectivity of asphalt. It is slightly egg-shaped, with its center of mass somewhat displaced from its geographical center. Because of that, Earth's gravity locks it into position so the same side always faces the Earth. It also causes the Moon to rock slightly from side to side - what we call "libration". That, along with its egg shape, allows us to see about 59% of the lunar surface, but not all at the same time.

What we cannot see is often called the "dark side of the Moon". It isn't dark at all. It gets just as much sunlight as our side. It's only dark in the sense that we never see it from Earth. The astronauts have seen it, mapped it, and photographed it. I guess I should say "cosmonauts" because the Russians got there first, and in a naming frenzy, gave all the features they found Russian names. The backside is dominated by more and larger craters, suggesting the Moon has saved Earth from large inbound objects many times. That's one advantage to having a large moon.

The Moon is vitally important to life on Earth. It keeps us spinning on an even keel, ensuring our axis doesn't move very much in relation to our orbit, thus regulating our seasons. In comparison, Mars, which has two tiny moons, gyrates wildly over the course of millions of years, subjecting the poles to unrelenting sunlight or darkness from time to time.

The Moon also drives our tides, which is vital to aquatic life, and in turn everything else up the food chain. People often ask why the tides follow the Moon and not the Sun. They guess, incorrectly, that the Moon's gravity is stronger than the Sun's, because the Moon is closer. If that were the case, the Earth would orbit the Moon and not the Sun. The Sun's gravity is about 3 and a half times greater than the Moon's. It's the difference in the Moon's gravity from one side of the Earth to the other that causes tides. Gravity follows the "inverse square law", meaning it decreases in proportion to the square of the distance. I don't want to turn this into an algebra class, so let's just say the strength falls off dramatically when the distance is small, and tapers off slowly when the objects are farther apart. Since the Sun is much farther away it exerts virtually the same pull on the far side of the Earth as it does the near side. Because the Moon is closer to Earth, its gravity is stronger on the near side of the Earth than the far side. And that large difference is what causes the seas to migrate toward the far and near sides of the Earth. That same tidal force also distorts the solid portion of the Earth - ever so slightly - as it spins within the uneven gravity field.

Where did the Moon come from? Classical astronomy has proposed three theories:

1. That the Earth and Moon both formed at the same time from the same primordial debris cloud. But, if that were true, they would have a similar composition, and they don't. The Earth has a large molten iron core...the Moon's core is very small, if it even has one at all. The Moon is mostly made of less-dense "crust-type" material.

Which brings us to Theory 2: That the moon material was "slung off" by centrifugal force while the Earth was still in a liquid/gaseous state. This would account for the Moon's lesser density. But it also requires a rotational speed of about 2 hours per rotation. Knowing Earth's current rotational speed of 24 hrs/rotation and the time that has elapsed since then, it's impossible the proto-Earth was spinning anywhere near fast enough for that to happen.

The Third theory says the Moon was formed as a mini-planet in its own orbit around the Sun, but was captured by Earth's gravity and assumed orbit around the earth. While that's possible in theory, too many variables would have to align for it to be plausible. It is overwhelmingly more likely the Moon would have either been pulled in for a spiraling impact with Earth, or zoomed on by after having its path altered to a varying degree. Also, if a capture had occurred, the Moon would be slowly drawing closer to Earth, headed for an eventual impact. It isn't. In fact, the Moon is receding at about 1 and a half inches per year.

Together with the 3 classical theories damaged, 1 astronomer said "The sole realistic conclusion left is that the Moon just does not exist." Consequently along came the outrageous principle a Mars-sized

Acapulco -- The Weather and the Time

Acapulco
Acapulco

Acapulco(Mexico)

Acapulco
Acapulco

Acapulco(Mexico)

As the Jimmy Buffett song goes, “The Weather is Here . . . “ -- In Acapulco you can almost always count on a sunny day and a clear night – at least during three seasons of the year. The winter months are the best. In the summer the weather can be “iffy” -- both in terms of sun (versus rain) and temperature.

You will find Acapulco at a latitude of 16°45'N. Anything up to 22.5° is considered in the tropics. Thus, Acapulco's tropical climate should come as no surprise. (Perhaps an unexpected effect of being in the tropics is that the face of the moon appears to have rotated. Be sure to study it at home first, and then compare when you get here.)

Here is the good news: From December to May the average temperature is around 80° Fahrenheit (26° Celsius). Highs rarely reach 90°F (32°C), and the lows are a comfortable 72°F (22°C). It almost never rains, and the sun comes out all day long. Clouds, if there are any, are wispy. About 300 out of 365 days each year are perfect beach days. Humidity during dry season is relatively low.

Here is the bad news: From June to October, rain is possible, especially overnight. The days can get hot (averaging close to 90°F (32°C) and peaking between 95°F (35°C) and 100°F (38°C) during July. It does not rain every day during rainy season. Many, if not most of the days are sunny and bright, but usually hotter and more humid than in the winter months. But when it does rain, the water really comes down! Rarely does it rain during daylight. The humidity builds while the sun is out, and then late at night rain bathes the mountains and the streets of the port city, lingering often until early morning hours. If it does rain during the day, a tropical weather system of some sort is probably passing through. Acapulco is south of the corridor of serious Pacific hurricanes, but every year a few tropical storms or depressions will stop to dump as much as several inches of rain. On such occasions the rain can start at any time and continue heavy for many hours, flooding streets and dry arroyos.

Time

You will find Acapulco at a longitude of 99°45'W. It is in the “Central Time Zone,” as that term is understood in the United States and Canada. Set your clock to the same time as in Mexico City, Chicago or Saskatchewan. This is GMT -6. In the summer, the clock is moved forward to GMT -5 for Daylight Savings Time. Do not assume that the change from Standard to Daylight Savings time is the same as in your home country. Usually Mexico changes later in the Spring and earlier in the Fall than in the United States. (Some places in Canada, like Saskatchewan for example, do not change the hour at all.)

A curious feature of the time zone is that Acapulco is on the extreme western edge of Central Time. Therefore, twilight comes relatively later in Acapulco than in places more central in the time zone, and dawn is also later, too. If you are used to having a sunrise walk on the beach around 6:00 am, in Acapulco you may have to wait until nearly 7:00 am.

Elevation

It may seem obvious to most people, but Acapulco is at sea level, being on the ocean and all. Visitors who come in from higher altitudes (like Mexico City or Toluca, or perhaps Colorado and Utah) will probably notice and appreciate the 20% or so more oxygen you get at sea level (when compared with, say, 9,000 feet (2,700 meters). After a week at sea level, the trip home may result in some huffing and puffing. The mountains around Acapulco are high for being on the coast. Some nearby peaks of the Southern Sierra Madres go up as high as 7,000 feet, but the high peaks overlooking Acapulco are only about 2,500 feet above the level of the bay.

It's not that the night sky is not in that respect. The stars radiance every bit they e'er do. The problem with bread and butter in a city is the city lights. Light pollution is a adult deal that no one wants to verbalize of the town around. It robs you of the night sky, and it puts nature out of parallelism. The lights block your view of everything except the brightest objects in the sky. The solution is to simply turn the lights off, but that's political self annihilation. Those same lights discourage crime, and no one wants that. Because of this, an astronomer bread and butter in a city has to find alternate ways to envision the night sky.

join your topical anesthetic astronomy association

The first thing you can do is join your topical anesthetic astronomy association. These associations often have observatories in rural outlying suburbs that you can use. They also offer networking, astronomical discussions, and community events that you can enter in.

be a theorist

If you got a administer of thoughts, and delight in math, you can become an astronomy theorist. Theorists develop thoughts around how the man workings using system of logic every bit fountainhead every bit what we already know around the man. You can pay off started by joining your topical anesthetic astronomical association or a few online discussions groups and join in the conversation.

Make Simulations

If you have computer programing skills, you can be simulation software engineer. Simulation is a growing field of research in many sciences, not just astronomy. Simulations are used to check theories and other thoughts when physical experimentation or observations cannot be through, or are hard to conduct. If you can't envision the night sky extraneous your have window, then place it on your household computer instead!

do solar astronomy

If all fails, you can e'er take upkeep towards the sun. Solar astronomy is conducted during the day, and such can be through anywhere even inside a city.

City bread and butter whitethorn dampen your desire to be an astronomer, but it doesn't have to stem you either. in that respect are many ways to do astronomy while still bread and butter in a city if you know wherever to take upkeep. Love Star Signs - Is Your Star Sign Compatibility Match With Ophiuchus

constellation
Constellations

The Leicia-Walker constellation as seen from the 'Water Barrel'.

There is a distinct buzz echoing around at the moment. It began in the astrology zone but its resonance can now be heard across the cosmos.

Astrology as we all know is the study of the stars and the planets and the effect that they have upon our lives. There have long and often been debates over the disputed claim of whether they can predict our future. Now it is suddenly the hot topic for discussion once more.

This is all due to a man named Parke Kunkle who teaches astronomy at the Minneapolis Community and Technical College, he told NBC in an interview that the way that we view the stars and the constellations has to be changed. According to Kunkle the change has come about due to a wobble in the earth's axis which means it is not in the same place that it was 3000 years ago when the constellations were first allocated names and placed into what is now our zodiac.

This shifting of our planet has left a hole in the cosmos. Do not panic, it's not a black hole as apparently this hole can be filled with another, new, star sign!

Star sign number 13 is to be called Ophiuchus and it sits between Scorpio and Sagittarius in the heavens.

Ophiuchus is not new he was around at the beginning of the zodiac along with the other 49 original constellations. These were whittled down by the Babylonians, first to 18 and then into the 12 that we are all familiar with.

Ophiuchus was known in the time of the Babylonians as Serpentarius the snake holder and the name comes from the Greek word meaning serpent-bearer.

The new sign of Ophiuchus will be placed into the solar chart to cover the period between Nov.29 and Dec.17 which means that Sagittarius will have to budge up to the right a bit to make room for him and will now cover the period between Dec 17 to Jan 20.

Likewise all of the star signs will have to make a similar move to accommodate our snake-carrying friend. Obviously the twelve signs that we know and love and that previously held a duration of around 30 days each are going to be whittled down somewhat. This means that some of the star signs will be only 3 weeks in duration while oddly enough Pisces, Leo and Taurus have a longer time in the proverbial wicket with a total of 38 days each. Virgo has the best deal with 44 days and poor old Scorpio is now only allowed to play for 7 days in total.

The personality traits of this new pretender Ophiuchus are that he is intelligent and honest and full of sexual magnetism. Now, as positive traits go they don't sound too bad but as it is Sagittarius that is going to have to take on the Ophiuchus label and traits, I wonder how the old archer feels about losing his own traits of being very positive, popular, big hearted and a great listener.

Of course it is not only Sagittarius that is affected. We must all take on the personalities of the star sign immediately to our left. So Capricorn is the new Sagittarius, Aquarius takes over the mantle of Capricorn and so on. I am Pisces and although I was born on the cusp and so already share some of my personality traits with Aquarius I am not happy at being told that I have to give up many of the Pisces traits that I like. Sure there are some things I might like to change, which makes me wonder if maybe it can be done as a sort of mix and match where we swop the traits we dislike with ones that we prefer?

Interestingly, this may have an effect upon all those people who disclaim the power of astrology. In the US, 25% of the population are believers in astrology which means that there must also be a large amount who sit on the fence. You know the type. 'Non-believers' who covertly read their star signs? They claim not to know anything about star signs but they know the personality traits that accord with their sign and probably which signs they are compatible with too. Well I wonder if these non-believing Leo's are going to discard their Lion status and happily take on the ways of the Crab? Are the diplomatic Librans going to be happy to suddenly become Virgo?

What of star sign compatibility? Our love star signs are now going to be different. Are we now going to find ourselves attracted to a completely different type of personality?

Will we suddenly find that we have nothing in common with our love partners?

Could this change of personality be sited as grounds for divorce?

Then of course there are the people that have really committee to their star sign by having a body tattoo. Is there going to be a rush to the laser treatment surgeries for removal of the now erroneous sign or perhaps a good tattoo artist can mask the Sagittarius into Scorpio?

No one can predict how it is going to go but you can be sure of one thing…there will be a lot more discussion to come on this subject.

Here is the new Zodiac chart:

Capricorn: Jan.20 – Feb.16

Aquarius: Feb.16 – March 11

Pisces: March 11 - April 18

Aries: April 18 – May 13

Taurus: may 13 – June

The importance of the gear you obtain, for your hiking adventures is a consideration that should be thought over, with an emphasis on Quality and Performance. Having been on hiking excursions throughout my life on numerous occasions, and not paying enough attention to the hiking shoes I was Sporting, I now realize was a big mistake. Why? You ask; because of the sore, aching, wet wrinkled feet, I had to endure for the duration of some of my hikes.
The main reason I think, we sometimes purchase inferior gear for our trekking ventures, are the costs associated with; and lack of knowledge of what is available out there. I used to purchase brands, from the large company names, that diversify their product line to such an extent, that they have to outsource their manufacturing to another country, for cheaper Labor, and production costs. There is more than one problem, with a company that has an emphasis just on making Profit, their product suffers, our economy suffers, and were stuck buying the same product in a year or two, when we could have spent a few more Dollars, for a superior product that will last for years.
I recently purchased a Pair of MERRELL BUNGEE CORDS, after researching the market and finding out what is available, that is made in the United States, and is affordable and of good quality, I was stumped. All that said lets stick to quality and affordability as the main emphasis, as well as Merrells continued support, to outdoor organizations, that preserve the extreme environments we as hikers endear. Since price is such an issue in todays economy, I believe we can say MERRELL has accomplished both of these attributes in the creation of their Hiking Boots and Shoes.
Merrell Women's Siren Ventilator Hiking Shoes, Merrell Men's Pivot Lace Sport Light Hiking Shoes, Merrell Men's Pivot Trail Running Shoes, Merrell Men's Moab Ventilator Multi-Sport Shoes, are just some examples, of the selection youll find when you link through our site.

Gas Well Production Optimization

Outlaw Automation Inc Has an interesting set of tools designed to run in the Fisher ROC products to enhance production using plunger and/or timers. The program offers a number of different control modes designed to achieve maintaining, or increasing in production. Depending on the mode selected, control functions utilize timers, gas flow rate, well pressure, plunger arrival data or a combination thereof.

The Time On/Off and Plunger Control - Fixed Timers modes are the only selections that will result in definite well on and off times. All other modes will result in a variable on time, a variable off time, or both variables on and off times. Times will vary based on the characteristics of the well and the entered setpoints.

For a FloBoss 103 with the 4-point I/O board the only I/O configuration detail of note is that the DIN Type should be set to Standard. The Accumulated Value parameter is monitored to determine if the plunger has arrived. For a FloBoss 103 with a 6-point I/O board more configurations may be required. If a plunger arrival sensor is connected to a DI point then that DI point must have its DIN Type set to Standard and the Plunger Sensor TLP on the CONFIG screen must be defined as that DI point.

Logic to control the ESD valve is built into the optimization program and operates independently of the password-protected well optimization functions.

In a sample application of Gas Flow Rate vs. Time for a typical gas well that has been shut in for a period of time, and then opened to flow - Pressure has built up during the shut-in time and the well is able to generate a high initial flow rate as the gas flows out of the tubing string. There is sufficient flow to maintain a slug of liquid and bring it to the surface, or a plunger if it has been installed. The Gas Flow Rate drops significantly as the slug of liquid arrives at the wellhead and recovers once the liquid has passed or the plunger has arrived. The Gas Flow Rate will then slowly decline as pressure drops or the well begins to load. The well is shut in when the flow drops below the Critical Flow Set point.

When in Critical Flow mode the Critical Flow set point will determine the length of time the well will stay open after the well unloads. If Plunger Arrival is being monitored then the Post Plunger Sales Time Preset (PPST) will determine the length of time the well will stay open after the plunger arrives.

The Time on bypass time should be set at a value slightly greater than that required for unloading of liquids and/or should allow enough time for the plunger to arrive. A short Time on bypass time may result in premature shut-in of the well.

The Emergency Shut Down (ESD) logic, if purchased as an option, is written into the optimization program and will operate without the optimization program authorization code. The optimization control may not be started if an ESD condition exists. If an ESD condition occurs in an off cycle then the program operation will continue as usual. If the ESD condition persists at the end of the off cycle the program will hold at the start of the on cycle. If an ESD condition occurs in an on cycle then the program will hold until the condition is cleared and the ESD bypass timer has expired if ESD logic is built-in.

Optimization Modes:

1 Time on/Time Off - This mode provides automatic On/Off control of well flow using timer setpoints entered by operator. The cycle may be started in either the On or Off time cycle. The Time On counter will start when the program is activated if the Start flag is set to one.

2 Critical Flow vs. Time Off - This mode provides automatic On/Off control based on a critical flow set point and a fixed time off period. The amount of time that the valve will be open will vary depending on the characteristics of the well. Plunger is optional with this mode. The cycle is started in the on or off time according to the Start Position.

3 Critical Flow vs. Casing - Enhanced On/Off control utilizing well pressure. A Plunger is not required. Use of critical flow allows the on time to vary according to the wells ability to produce gas. Use of casing static delta pressure being less than the set point is included because if a well becomes loaded with liquid when it is flowing, the casing pressure may become considerably greater than the static pressure (DP increases because liquid prevents gas flow up the tubing). If the casing and static pressures are equalized during the shut-in period then this may be considered as a safe condition to resume flow.

4 Static Differential Pressure - Enhanced On/Off control utilizing well pressure. A plunger is not required. Use of critical flow allows the on time to vary according to the wells ability to produce gas. Use of casing static delta pressure being greater than the set point is included because as a well builds pressure during the shut-in time the casing pressure may become considerably higher than the static pressure. When the well is opened to flow the high casing pressure may aid in lifting liquids

elevation 10 Best Cocktails During 1940s

wprobot module="Flickr" keyword="cocktails" start="1" num="1"

The 1940s was an era of distinction from fashion styles to music trends and varied parties. Cocktails were among important parts to build an iconic era. Now, let's take top ten best cocktails in this period.

 Manhattan

The Manhattan or Dry Manhattan is one special kind of cocktail. People can make a perfect Manhattan with an ounce of vermouth (half sweet vermouth and half dry vermouth) and two ounces of rye works. Besides, using proper amount of ice to chill the liquid is really important. The Manhattan must be stirred or spooned rather than shaken because when you shake it, the Vermouth will cloud.

The Manhattan combines 1/3 French (dry) Vermouth, 2/3 rye whiskey and a dash of Angostura bitters stirred in cracked ice

Peach in Champagne

Peach in champagne, also called white-peach purée and Prosecco, was allegedly invented by Giuseppe Cipriani from Harry’s Bar in Venice ranging from the late ’30s to 1948. The cocktail is easy to prepare by placing one ripe white peach in a glass filled with ice-cold Champagne and fizzing it for a minute before drinking.

Only seeing the peach in champagne, you may immediately want to drink it

Aristocrat Sparkling Punch

Making an Aristocrat Sparkling Punch that was created in Sep. 1941 is extremely complicating. Firstly, dissolve a cube sugar in one cup of sparkling water (from a quart) and pour it into a punch bowl. Secondly, add one bottle Burgundy and 4 ounces brandy to the bowl and stir well. Thirdly, place a block of ice in the bowl and pour in 2 bottles Champagne and the rest of the sparkling water. Finally, garnish the top of this liquid with strawberries or raspberries.

The cocktail looks eye-catching

Sloppy Joe’s Mojito

Sloppy Joe’s Mojito is a favored cocktail from Sloppy Joe’s Bar, one of three most famous Havana watering holes during Prohibition. The ingredients making a cup of Mojito include fresh mint, jigger light rum, ice and soda.

The cocktail is particularly preferred by those who like mint

Tequila Cocktail

Mexico, a popular exotic travel destination, is home to Tequila recipes. The Tequila cocktail was invented in Jan. 1949 with a mixture of ice cubes, juice, sugar and tequila. Tourists visiting this country often ask for the famous drink.

The Best Way To Cook Your Freshly Caught Fish

A freshly caught fish can be cooked in a thousand and one ways. Any fisherman worth his salt has his own unique way of cooking a freshly caught trout, salmon or whatever fish he caught. So fisherman all across the country has been handed down methods of cooking fish. Here are some tips to get the best out of your fish.

1.Frying

Breading and frying a freshly caught fish is as good as it gets. The smell of butter emanating from the frying pan and the flair a fisherman puts in flipping his catch is worth its weight in gold, almost. For the novice fisherman, make sure that the butter is extra hot but not yet burning. Also, make sure that the fish is well coated in batter. Season your batter to your heart's content, salt and pepper never goes wrong. You may want to try other herbs and spices with the batter for a more delicious fish.

2.Grilling

At first glance, grilling would seem to be the easiest way to handle your fish. A newbie might assume that grilling fish is the same as grilling steaks or burgers. Unlike fowl or cattle, fish tends to secret most of its own juices when cooked. On a grill the delicious juice drips into the coals.

To prevent losing the moisture, first coat the fish with oil. The oil will seal a part of the moisture inside. Second, keep an eye on the fillets and turn them as soon as a cut would reveal that the fresh fish is cooked halfway through. After being flipped, watch the fish carefully. Remove the fish as soon as it is cooked through.

An option to basting the fish with oil is to wrap it in aluminum foil. The aluminum foil will keep the moisture and marinate the fish in its own moisture. Placing herbs and spices inside the foil with the fish enhances the grilling process and the fish itself.

3.Baking

Baking is the best option for the fisherman who does not want to watch over the fish during cooking. The fisherman can prepare the marinade and pre-heat the oven, then pop the fish into the oven for a predetermined amount of time. You may want to check on the fish from the time to time, ensuring that you don't overcook the fish.

Whatever fish you caught, a good recipe and proper cooking will for sure enhance the catch. Take time to prepare for cooking, a badly cooked fish will no doubt spoil your day. Remember the first rule of cooking, don't overcook your fish.

Juicing For Your Blood Type

[embed link="none"]http://www.hulu.com/watch/300595[/embed]

Ever wonder why a particular diet works great for some people but not others? Well now we know! Finnish scientists recently discovered that molecules which cover the surface of blood cells and determine each persons blood type are energized by different nutrients. In other words, certain foods are better suited to certain blood types. Thus, eating and juicing - according to your blood type can be effective in lowering weight, boosting energy, and relieving GI problems.

Eating according to your blood type has been an intriguing theory for decades as presented in the book, Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type by Peter DAdamo, N.D. This article briefly reviews the foods that are best for each blood type, with a particular emphasis on fruits and vegetables and juicing recipes.

There are 4 blood types: O, A, B, and AB. Type O is the oldest blood type according to DAdamos theory, set in our genes when we first emerged as hunter-gatherers. Type Os have the hardiest digestive systems which consume mostly meat. Type A people come from the later development of agrarian society which adapted for the optimum digestion of all kinds of plant food. Type B folks are descended from nomadic people who raised herds and adapted to eating both plants and meat. Type AB arose most recently in our evolutionary history with digestive systems with both A and B blood type characteristics.

Type Os do best with a high protein and low carb diet. Their digestive systems need lean animal protein for optimal health along with certain fruits and vegetables, but only a minimum of carbohydrates. Since their digestive systems are high in acid, coffee and processed sugar is to be avoided. Rigorous exercise makes Os feel at their best. Foods that dont do well with Os are: wheat, corn, beans, cabbage, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, avocado, eggplant, mushrooms, olives, potatoes, mustard greens, sugar, bacon, ham, and pork, caviar, lox, herring, and octopus, cashews, peanuts, pistachios, dairy, cereals, pasta, oranges, melon, strawberries, apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper, vanilla, vinegar, ketchup, mayonnaise, pickles, coffee, distilled liquor, all soda, and black tea.

The best ingredients for Type O juices are cherries, leafy greens (particularly kale, spinach, and broccoli), bananas, blueberries, figs, mangos, and plums. The sugars naturally found in these fruits and vegetables combined with their alkalinity will not increase the acidity in the type O constitution. Here are some great juice recipes for Os:

20 cherries, pitted
1 stalk celery
1 leaf kale

2 mangos, with skins, without seed
1 banana, remember not to juice bananas as they will clog your juicer blend them
